Tesla moons are not welcome in China’s coastal region, where party leaders gather –

Vehicles from automaker Tesla will no longer be welcome in China’s coastal region of Beidaihe for at least two months from July 1. This region hosts the annual summer meeting of senior Chinese government officials.

No reason was given, but a traffic police officer from Beidaihe said “national problems” were behind the Tesla ban.

A few weeks ago, the city of Chengdu, which was visited by President Xi Jinping, also banned the use of electric cars on certain roads. The ban has not been officially announced, but it came to light after images surfaced on social media of Teslas being pulled over by police.

The military has already banned Tesla

Since last year, Teslas are no longer allowed to enter Chinese military buildings for fear of espionage. The vehicles of the American group are, among other things, filled with cameras and sensors that are used for the system that allows the car to drive independently. But it also collects all kinds of information. Musk, the founder of Tesla, said the information will remain in China.

Tesla’s Shanghai factory produced about half of the more than 900,000 Teslas shipped worldwide last year. Due to the very strict corona measures in Shanghai, it will probably be less this year. Due to the quarantine in the Chinese metropolis, the factory was closed for 22 days.
