A California jury found Bill Cosby guilty of sexually assaulting a minor in 1975. This is a legal matter. The victim, Judy Huth, will receive half a million dollars in compensation for the emotional damage she has suffered.
Huth said he and a friend were invited to the Playboy Mansion by the comedian at the time. She was then 16, Cosby 37. The jury found evidence that Cosby, now 84, forced her to have sex.
Cosby, who did not appear in court, denies it. He made the statement years ago in a video shown to the jury. Cosby says he doesn’t remember Huth and that something like this couldn’t have happened because he was a minor at the time, that’s his reasoning.
The lawsuit against Cosby had been going on since 2014. Huth said her son was the same age as she was when the abuse took place that year. This and more of Cosby’s female allegations brought back memories of the abuse, so they started a relationship.
The decision comes 11 months after Cosby was released from prison after Pennsylvania’s highest court dismissed the assault charges.
