Jamaican runner Shericka Jackson set the all-time third fastest time in the 200m on Sunday. The sprinter did this during the Kingston Championship in his country. With a time of 21.55, he is the early favorite for the world title at the World Championship in Eugene, USA next month. Jackson, 27, had already won the 100 meters on Friday.
Only Florence Griffith-Joyner (21.34) and Elaine Thompson-Herah (21.53) from Jamaica were consistently faster. The American, who died in 1998, broke the world record at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Thompson-Herah’s time in Tokyo last year was good for the Olympic title. Dafne Schippers is sixth in the endless double sprint distance classification with 21.63, when she won the world title in Beijing in 2015.
