At least nine dead in a bombing in the Donetsk region

At least nine civilians have been killed and 25 others injured in Russian shelling in recent hours at various points in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, local officials said on Monday.

The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, said in a post on the Telegram social network that among those killed in these attacks were two children.

“The Russians killed nine civilians in the Donetsk region: six in Sloviansk, one in Avdiivka, one in Bakhmut and one in Zaitseve. Among the dead were two children: one in Sloviansk and one in Zaitseve. Another 25 people were injured.” , said. Kyrylenko said.

According to Kyrylenko, “currently it is impossible to determine the exact number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha”, both cities occupied by the Russians and which are also part of that region.

“The Russians will bear responsibility for all crimes committed on our land,” the Ukrainian official warned.

Russian troops also launched a major attack on the city of Sloviansk, one of the main cities in the Donetsk region, on Sunday, where some 15 fires broke out in various parts of the city, according to the sources.

After dominating the entire Lugansk region, the Russians are now trying to conquer the Donetsk region, where the Ukrainians control only 45% of the territory.

The two regions form Donbass, a territory where pro-Russian fighters declared Lugansk and Donetsk independent republics a few days before the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.
