India is set to become the most populous country in the world

The projections pointing to: India will become the most populous country in the world, posing major challenges for this country with the largest number of poor in the world, with limited resources and minimal policies of family control.

The latest report from Outlook for the world’s population predicts that by 2023 India will be populated by 1,429 million people — surpassing China even earlier than expected — a figure that highlights the urgency that also has the largest poor population in the world.

According to the 1941 census of India, the country had just over 360 million inhabitants, meaning the country has quadrupled its population since its independence from the British Empire in 1947.

In Indiathe high birth rate is historically related to poverty, high infant mortality and the low educational attainment of women.
