Tesla reports earnings of $5,577 million in the first half of the year

The electric car manufacturer Tesla registered a net profit of US$5,577 million in the first six months of this year, that is, 253% more than in the same period of 2021, the company announced this Wednesday.

According to the results released, the last quarter contributed with profits of 2,259 million dollars, thanks to the growth in production in the new factories in Berlin and Austin (United States), a figure still below the more than three billion dollars of earnings achieved in the first quarter of 2022.

In the first half of 2022, Tesla had revenue of $35.69 billion, of which $16.934 million came from the second quarter, which represents an increase of 42% compared to the same period in 2021.

The company founded by billionaire Elon Musk earned 88% of its first-half revenue, some $31.463 million, from car sales and related services.

Despite the increase in revenues and net income, the gross margin of automobile sales decreased due to the impact of inflation, as well as the increasing demand of the industry for batteries and other components of electric vehicles.

As for the units in Berlin and Austin, the company highlighted the rate of production of 1,000 vehicles per week in June in the German structure, while the factory installed in Texas has already begun to deliver the first vehicles produced with the new batteries, which offer faster operation. than the previous generation and a higher energy density.

In total, the company produced 563,987 vehicles in the first six months of 2022, of which 258,580 were built in the second quarter.
