The Algerian company Sonatrach announced on Tuesday three new oil and gas discoveries in southern Algeria, one of them in collaboration with the Italian giant Eni.
“During the production test, the well registered 1,300 barrels per day of oil and 51,000 cubic meters per day of gas,” Sonatrach said in a statement posted on its website.
The company added that exploration of these fields will start following “rapid development” given their proximity to existing facilities at Ohanet and Rhourde Oulad Djemaa (ROD).
The discovery with Eni, the Rhourde Oulad Djemaa Ouest-1 (RODW1) follows the discovery of HDLE-1, in the Zemlet el Arbi concession, announced in March this year.
The Zemlet el Arbi and Sif Fatima 2 designs are jointly operated by Sonatrach (51%) and Eni (49%).
The discovery occurs within the framework of a new exploration campaign that involves the drilling of five wells in the northern Berkine basin, in the Center-East of the country.
