No European mission to Mars this year due to Russian invasion of Ukraine

A planned European mission to Mars was canceled due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This is reported by the European Space Agency (ESA). After the first mission to Mars in 2016, the agency planned to launch the second part of its ExoMars program this year with the Russian space agency Roscosmos. However, according to the ESA, that is no longer possible, both practically and politically.

This year, Mars rover Rosalind Franklin Landing on Mars. The rover must then travel several miles over the surface of Mars, looking for signs of life. It is unclear when the mission will resume.

At the end of last month, ESA had already discussed the delay of the launch and that is now final. The director of the European Space Agency is looking for other organizations to collaborate on the project.
