And again people have to sleep outside in the registration center Ter Apel

Some 250 refugees had to spend the night outside, from Friday to Saturday. In the night from Thursday to Friday there were about three hundred people. It’s never been this much.

security risk zone

The municipality of Westerwolde, which also includes Ter Apel, has designated the forecourt of the enforcement center as a safety risk area on Friday. This means that the police and the municipality have more options for surveillance and, for example, to carry out preventive searches. The aim is to protect particularly vulnerable women and children, as well as personnel working in the field.

Recently, refugees regularly sleep outside. While the registration center in Groningen has been working for months, people also spent the night in chairs in the waiting areas. Refugee centers no longer have a place and status holders have no access to housing, partly due to overheating of the housing market.
