Workers in the Holy Land protest against warehouse closures

With red balloons and banners, this Thursday, September 8, dozens of Tierra Santa SAS warehouse workers gathered on Calle 72 with Carrera 46, in the north of Barranquilla, because of the actions taken by the authorities against this organization in several cities of the Caribbean.

The vote of rejection comes after several offices of the association were raided by members of the CTI of the Public Prosecution Service, Sijín and Dijín, who were investigating a lawsuit from previous years.

The textile company’s employees joined in “solidarity with their bosses” and demanded that the process move “fast forward”. Well, they are most affected to support their families.

“We want to work, we demand our rights, we support our bosses. It is a company that has provided us with employment for more than a decade, which has maintained our salary and markets during the pandemic, despite the fact that the companies were closed. That’s why we asked the Public Prosecution Service and the police to give us an answer, they never told us we were closing, they took us out of our jobs,” said Noys Silvera, who has been with the company for ten years. . .

Faced with the trial, he stated there are more than 300 affected families and those who remain in their homes waiting for a “solution”.

It should be noted that the acts of the prosecution were committed simultaneously in Barranquilla, Valledupar, Santa Marta, Ciénaga, Montería and Maicao, in La Guajira.
