Kirsten is happy with message from Máxima: “Talk about suicidal thoughts”

Kirsten says there are also many parents and relatives who are members of the Facebook group. “When you have suicidal thoughts, they try to understand or see what’s going on.” After her suicide attempt, Kirsten realized that there was a lot of shame, stigma and misunderstanding around her. “It has unconsciously created a distance between me and my loved ones. Misunderstandings turned to despair on both sides.”

don’t be alone

According to Kirsten, healing is promoted and World Suicide Prevention Day affirms when loved ones or loved ones talk about experiences, feelings and thoughts about each other. “People with mental health problems need to be seen and heard every day, of course, but it’s good to have more attention for a day so that more people who need help can report this.”

“Let people know that they are not alone. There are people who want to talk.” According to Kirsten, it would be good for these people to see that it’s okay to talk about it. “That is why it is so important for Máxima to make her voice heard on social media. It would be nice if more people would do this.”
