The seventh episode of House of the Dragon season three premieres Sunday, August 2, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max at 9:00 p.m. ET. The episode runs 62 minutes, was directed by Nina Lopez-Corrado, and was written by Philippa Goslett and Zenzele Price.
The episode arrives after the sixth installment, titled “Faceless Men,” delivered the widely anticipated death of Criston Cole, played by Fabien Frankel. The source describes his end as irrelevant and without honor, the result of his obsession and resentment after a life spent seeking chivalric glory.
In the preview for episode seven, Aemond Targaryen, played by Ewan Mitchell, speaks of a new dawn and a new line of kings. When Alicent Hightower arrives at Harrenhal, Alys Rivers warns Aemond that his mother has come to harm him.
That warning appears well-founded. According to the source, Alicent struck a deal with Rhaenyra to kill Aemond in exchange for her own freedom and that of her daughter Helaena Targaryen, played by Phia Saban, who is pregnant and imprisoned.
Meanwhile, Rhaenyra presses Helaena, who has been revealed as a dreamer, to share everything she knows. Rhaenyra tells her that while Helaena may reject her as a sister, she can compel her as her queen.
House of the Dragon is exclusive to HBO and HBO Max, which is owned by Warner Bros. A subscription to the platform is required to watch the new episode.
