PAOK FC president Ivan Savvidis attended the team's training session at Nea Mesimvria on Saturday morning to show support for the squad following their elimination from European competition by Norwegian club Brann.
Savvidis was accompanied at the training complex by his two sons, Giorgos and Nikos. The family held discussions with both the players and members of the coaching staff ahead of PAOK's upcoming domestic fixture against Atromitos.
PAOK FC, a Super League Greece football club based in Thessaloniki, returned to domestic focus after their European campaign ended in Norway. The team trains at the Nea Mesimvria complex located outside Thessaloniki.
Addressing the squad, Savvidis emphasized the mindset required across the entire organization. He stated that he wants to build a team, both in the management offices and on the pitch, that believes in its objective, adding that they must carry out things they had not done in the past.
Demands for squad unity
Speaking directly to the players, Savvidis urged everyone to function as a single unit. He noted that while eleven players enter the pitch, they must play as one.
Savvidis issued a clear directive regarding the continuation of the domestic league season. He instructed the team to treat every match like a final and to target three points each week, emphasizing that nothing else matters. He stated that the league season did not begin with Levadiakos, but effectively starts now.
Highlighting the responsibility of representing the club, Savvidis called on the players to defend the name and dignity of PAOK. He said the team must prove every day who they are and demonstrate the stature of the club.
Backing for coaching staff
Savvidis highlighted the upcoming match against Atromitos as a crucial fixture. He called on the squad to display their quality and character, proving they possess the strength to overcome difficult circumstances.
Throughout his speech, Savvidis repeatedly urged the players to stay close to the head coach and support him. He concluded by reassuring the squad that he remains by their side and is always available to hear their concerns.
Savvidis, a Greek-Russian businessman who owns the Thessaloniki club, has overseen PAOK during multiple domestic title and cup campaigns. Opponents Atromitos are based in Peristeri, Athens, and compete alongside PAOK in Super League Greece.
