The 39-year-old Argentine had led Argentina to a second consecutive World Cup final appearance before coming back to Miami. The Inter Miami crowd gave him an enthusiastic reception when he came on in the second half.
The game ended 2-2. Noah Allen, who represents Greece’s under-21 national team, scored one of Inter Miami’s goals with a header in first-half stoppage time, putting the side ahead 2-1 at the break.
The match drew particular interest in Greece given Allen’s place on the Inter Miami squad and his goal on the night.
