Greek actress Vicky Stavropoulou has expressed her joy over the pregnancy of her daughter, television presenter Danae Barka, while admitting she has not yet fully realized the news.
Speaking during an interview on the Greek television show Xamogela kai Pali on Monday, September 21, Stavropoulou said she felt immensely happy because Barka herself was so happy about expecting a child.
Stavropoulou is one of Greece's most recognizable comedy actresses, best known for her television and stage roles, while Barka hosts the daily morning program Pame Danai on Mega Channel.
Stavropoulou on Motherhood and Grandmotherhood
When asked by the program host whether she had offered advice to Barka regarding the upcoming arrival, Stavropoulou stated that she was not someone who gave advice. She explained that she believed advice was largely useless, noting that children of all ages learn by observing and understanding what happens around them far more than by listening to instructions.
Describing her emotions, Stavropoulou confessed that she had not yet fully processed that she was set to become a grandmother. She joked that she found it difficult to get used to the title, laughing at being called a grandma.
She recounted that Barka had delivered a memorable line, saying she believed Stavropoulou was capable of asking to baptize the child herself. Stavropoulou quipped that she would gladly baptize her daughter's child so the baby would call her godmother instead of grandmother.
When questioned about how she first learned of the pregnancy, Stavropoulou declined to reveal any details. She apologized to viewers, explaining that the moment was deeply personal to their family and was not meant to be shared publicly.
Chatzipanagiotis Discloses Family Reaction
Interviewers noted that actor Christos Chatzipanagiotis had spoken earlier that morning on the television program Happy Day, revealing that Stavropoulou was far from calm when she received the news. Stavropoulou responded jokingly, asking if Chatzipanagiotis had really made such a statement. She remarked humorously that he would get her into trouble and cited the traditional proverb that private family matters should remain within the home.
During his appearance on Happy Day on Monday morning, Chatzipanagiotis, who has lived with the family for decades and considers Barka like his own daughter, expressed his own delight at her happiness. He recounted the moment Barka announced her pregnancy to the family, saying she simply told them she was expecting a child.
Chatzipanagiotis stated that he remained the calmest person present and encouraged Barka to move forward with good fortune. In contrast, he disclosed that Stavropoulou was not calm at all, making a commotion and becoming overwhelmed with emotion.
Barka had publicly announced her pregnancy with her first child on September 1, sharing a message online wishing followers a happy month from the three of them.
