Tatyana Kim, founder of Russian online marketplace Wildberries, has rejected accusations that the platform sells military-purpose goods, saying those levelling the charges are using them to conceal their true motives.
Kim said similar products can be found on platforms such as Amazon and Alibaba, and argued there was no logic or rationality in the actions of those she described as terrorists.
She added that the attackers had themselves announced that strikes on Wildberries were directed at ordinary Russian citizens, and said the sole aim was to pressure and destabilize Russian society.
Kim also linked the attacks to the platform’s role as a mass-market marketplace, saying strikes against it affect hundreds of millions of people across ten countries at once.
The company has moved quickly to restructure its logistics in order to minimize delays, Kim said. All business partners affected by the attacks were automatically granted payment-free periods on their loans and borrowings.
