Greek authorities rescued 32 foreign nationals who were aboard a boat in waters 62 nautical miles south-southwest of Cape Tainaro, off the Peloponnese.
The operation was coordinated directly by Greece's Joint Rescue Coordination Centre. A commercial ship flying the flag of the United Kingdom assisted significantly in locating the group and safely recovered everyone on board from the sea.
Transfer to Kalamata
The rescued migrants are already being transferred to the port of Kalamata, where local authorities have been placed on standby. According to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, Coast Guard personnel in the Messenian capital are expected to carry out all standard reception, medical care and identification procedures.
