French film and theater actress Dominique Frot has died at the age of 68 after an illness, her family announced.

Her older sister, actress Catherine Frot, and her brother Jacques Frot said on Dominique's Instagram account that it was with great sadness that they were sharing news of Dominique's death, which occurred on August 7. Jean-Francois Gabard, Catherine Frot's agent, told the AFP news agency that the actress died at Tenon Hospital in Paris.

Dominique Frot was born on August 23, 1957, in Rochefort, in the Charente-Maritime region of France. She played numerous roles, often supporting parts, in stage plays, feature films and television series, including the strict school principal who clashed with Kev Adams and William Lebghil in the M6 series Soda.

Film career and final role

Her filmography included collaborations with directors Claude Miller on Mortelle randonnee, Gerard Oury on La vengeance du serpent a plume, Cedric Klapisch on Peut-etre, and Julia Ducournau on Titane, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2021. Her final big-screen appearance will come on October 21 with the release of Karma, Guillaume Canet's new film starring Marion Cotillard and Denis Menochet, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival this spring.
