AEK Athens has announced a new contract with defender Stavros Pilios, extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2030.
The two sides had already agreed on the terms of the deal some time ago, with only the formal announcement remaining.
The 25-year-old Greek left back has made 73 appearances for AEK since joining the club in the summer of 2023, scoring one goal and providing nine assists.
The new contract, running through the summer of 2030, comes as a reward for his performances last season, when he shared the left-back position with James Penrice.

Iliopoulos praises Pilios
AEK official Marios Iliopoulos addressed Pilios directly in comments marking the contract renewal, telling him he had shown great effort recently and that the moment belonged to those who had doubted him, including journalists and others in the football world.
Iliopoulos said Pilios had rightfully earned his place in the starting eleven through hard work, and that this was why the club had renewed his contract for four more years, keeping him at AEK for that period.
Iliopoulos said the renewal made him especially happy, since he had been the one who supported Pilios from the very first moment and believed in him. He said it was an answer to those who had made comments about the player, whether fair or not.
Iliopoulos added that the club was creating processes to support what he called the AEK family and to stay united, telling Pilios he would always need to be a unifying presence in the dressing room or face being scolded, adding that when he gets tough, he gets tougher than usual.
Iliopoulos then gave Pilios the floor to speak a few words from the heart. He said the coach had also supported Pilios, and that Pilios had absorbed AEK's mentality, recognized the path of a winner, and become one through hard work.
