Sisters Anna-Maria and Eirini Alexandri won gold in the technical duet event at the 38th European Aquatics Championships in Paris, giving Greece a landmark victory in artistic swimming.
The pair scored 311.4308 points to take the title, their fourth European championship in the discipline. Their three previous European titles came while representing Austria.
Maya Doroschko and Elizaveta Minaeva of Russia finished second with 302.9950 points. Kate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe of Great Britain took bronze with 297.9108 points.
The sisters are set to return to the pool at the Olympic Aquatic Center on Saturday for the free duet final, having qualified with the second-best score in the preliminary round.
Their sister Vasiliki Alexandri is also competing at the championships, entering the solo free program qualifying on Saturday morning. Diver Theophilos Avthinos is scheduled to compete in the 1m springboard qualifying the same day.
