Filmmaker Alma Har'el is assembling a prominent ensemble cast for her upcoming feature film titled Wet, which is being brought to the Toronto International Film Festival market by Patrick Wachsberger's sales company 193.
Academy Award winner Javier Bardem is in early negotiations to star in the project, following initial news of talks reported by Page Six last month. According to Deadline, the cast under discussion also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Heated Rivalry actor Connor Story, and Odessa A'zion, who recently earned recognition as the breakout star of Marty Supreme.
Har'el co-wrote the original screenplay alongside Kristian Stangbye, building on an original story concept created by Stangbye. Independent studio Fifth Season will finance and produce the feature alongside producers Chris Leggett, Riva Marker, and Har'el. Filming is scheduled to commence in Spain early next year, according to details reported by the Athens Macedonian News Agency.

The new film represents Har'el's latest directorial feature since her acclaimed 2019 drama Honey Boy, which was written by and starred Shia LaBeouf. That project was acquired by Amazon after earning widespread critical praise and screening at major international showcases, including both the Sundance Film Festival and TIFF. Har'el is an Israeli American director recognized for her distinct visual approach across feature films and documentaries.

Bardem is currently engaged in production on the Amazon MGM romantic comedy Hello & Paris, directed by Elizabeth Chomko and co-starring Kate Hudson. In May, the actor received strong acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival for his performance in the Spanish film The Beloved. American distributor Kino Lorber is mounting a campaign aiming for a fifth Academy Award nomination for Bardem for that role.
