Deportivo officially announced on Wednesday the signing of left-back José Ángel Esmorís 'Angeliño' on loan from Roma. The defender will play at Riazor for the upcoming campaign, with the Galician club securing an option to purchase him at the end of the 2026-2027 season.

Deportivo stated in an official announcement that after traveling across some of the most prominent stages in European football, Angeliño was returning home. The club noted that he was returning to the city and crest where he took his first steps after playing for ED Luis Calvo Sanz, having always identified Deportivo as the team of his heart.
Career path and academy roots
Angeliño developed in the Deportivo youth academy before making the move to the youth ranks of Manchester City in the summer of 2012. Throughout his career, the defender has represented several major European clubs, including Manchester City, PSV Eindhoven, RB Leipzig, Galatasaray, and Roma.
Competition for the left-back role
The player joins the squad managed by Antonio Hidalgo, where he will compete for the starting left-back position with Italian defender Giacomo Quagliata. Deportivo added that beyond his statistics and past achievements, the move represents the return of a player who never concealed his desire to wear the first-team jersey, fulfilling a long-held shared dream.
