Anker has unveiled the Solix S2000, a compact home power station built around a 2010 watt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery, which the company positions as one of the smallest and lightest units in its class.

The station weighs 16.2 kilograms and measures 20.8 by 28.2 by 32.3 centimetres. Anker, a consumer electronics brand best known for its portable chargers and power banks, has increasingly expanded into home battery and solar power systems under its Solix range.

Battery Life and Power Output

According to Anker, the battery is designed to retain up to 60% of its original capacity even after 10,000 charge cycles. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are widely used in power stations because they typically last longer and resist overheating better than other lithium battery types.

An OptiSave 2.0 system reduces energy use when the station is powering low-draw devices, and the unit consumes just 6 watts in standby mode. The Solix S2000 delivers a rated output of 1500 watts, with a short-term surge capacity of up to 3000 watts, enough to run refrigerators, microwaves, kettles and similar household appliances. Its USB ports supply up to 100 watts.

The station can also work as an uninterruptible power supply, switching from mains electricity to battery power in under 10 milliseconds, fast enough to protect computers, routers and other equipment sensitive to interruptions.

Charging Times and Storm Guard Mode

Anker says a full charge can run a 700-litre refrigerator for about 35 hours. Charging from a household mains supply of up to 1600 watts brings the battery to 80% in 1.2 hours, a time that shortens to around one hour when the station is charged simultaneously from the mains and a solar array of up to 1800 watts combined.

Using a 400-watt solar panel alone, charging to 80% takes about 4.5 hours. The station can also be charged from a vehicle: around 18 hours at 120 watts, or about 4.5 hours using a 400-watt charger connected to a car's alternator.

The Solix S2000 is controlled through a mobile app, which includes a Storm Guard mode. When the system receives a warning of severe weather or flooding, it can automatically charge the battery to 100% in preparation for a possible power outage.

The Anker Solix S2000 is now available for pre-order in Europe, priced at 700 euros.
