The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case after doctors at a hospital in Bashkiria rendered a patient infertile, news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing the committee's regional investigative department.

The criminal case was initiated under the legal charge of causing severe harm to health through negligence due to improper performance of professional duties.

Medical complications in Beloretsk

According to the news agency, media reports indicated that doctors in Beloretsk terminated a pregnancy at six months for a young woman from Sibai in 2025. She subsequently required a second operation because a piece of placenta remained in her uterus, which ultimately resulted in her infertility.
