A brown bear cub was photographed with a leaf stuck to its head while foraging with its mother and sibling in the Carpathian Mountains in Romania.

The moment was captured by landscape gardener and wildlife photographer Dave Kiely, 41. He said the cub had been searching for food with its mother and sibling in long grassland when it popped its head up and brought some of the landscape with it, with a leaf getting stuck to its head.

The leaf gave the cub an unexpected touch of woodland camouflage. Kiely said the cub then appeared to realise something was not quite right, briefly shaking its head in confusion before managing to loosen the leaf and carrying on with the business of finding food.
A memorable encounter
Kiely, who has photographed bears around the world as a hobby, said he had never seen one with extra camouflage before, calling it a light-hearted moment to witness.
