Gaming accessory manufacturer BitLounger has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to produce Retro Drawers, a modular storage system designed for retro game cartridges.
The company set a project goal of 1,000 dollars on Kickstarter, the online crowdfunding platform where creators raise production capital, with pledges open until September 14, 2026.
The Retro Drawers system features pull-out drawers made from clear acrylic material approximately six millimetres thick. The creators said the thick material gives the modules high structural rigidity and long-term durability. BitLounger stated that the chosen acrylic blocks more than 90 per cent of ultraviolet rays, protecting game cartridges against label fading and plastic discoloration.
Inside each drawer, internal inserts hold cartridges securely in an upright vertical position. Specially designed grooves on the top and bottom of each module allow users to interlock multiple drawers together, creating custom multi-level storage stacks.
Compatible platforms and pricing
The storage modules accommodate game cartridges across several generations of gaming hardware, including the original Game Boy handheld, the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super Nintendo, the Nintendo 64, and the Nintendo Switch console.
Early backers can purchase a basic single drawer for 28 dollars, while the largest XL storage version reaches up to 108 dollars. According to the project schedule, orders for early bird supporters will ship in November 2026, followed by general backer shipments in December 2026.
Display features and manufacturing
BitLounger has manufactured video game storage solutions for nearly ten years. The company said the new system serves as both a display showcase and practical storage, giving collectors immediate access to their cartridges without needing to unpack boxes or reorganize shelves.
The modular architecture allows users to expand their setup by adding extra drawers as their game collections grow. Protective accessories for physical retro media remain popular among video game collectors who prioritize preserving vintage hardware while displaying their items neatly at home.
