Ukrainian defense technology company BlueBird Tech has launched a hardware and frequency upgrade for its Chuyka 3.0 drone detectors via its mobile app.

BlueBird Tech launches Chuyka 3.0 drone detector upgrade

Ukrainian technology firm BlueBird Tech has introduced a hardware modernization program for its Chuyka 3.0 drone detectors. The update allows owners to upgrade their existing devices rather than purchasing a new model.

Under the modernization scheme, the Chuyka 3.0 receives a fourth frequency band. Following the upgrade, the detector will operate in the frequency range from 6 to 8.8 GHz.

The upgrade also expands the device's existing 3.3 GHz frequency band. Operational coverage increases from a range of 2,870 to 4,080 MHz to between 2,860 and 4,500 MHz.

Hardware updates and compatibility

The modernization is available for Chuyka 3.0 version 1.3.8 devices purchased from April 2026 onwards. Engineers carry out the upgrade by installing an additional module, an antenna, and a battery. The team will also update the existing 3.3 GHz module and antenna.

The hardware upgrade process takes up to two weeks to complete.

Application process and military priority

Device owners can submit an application for the upgrade through the BlueBird Tech mobile app. Users must enter the serial number of their device into the application, which then verifies whether the detector is compatible with the update.

BlueBird Tech stated that priority during the modernization process will be given to military personnel using the Chuyka detector on the front line.

BlueBird Tech defense equipment

Drone detectors like the Chuyka 3.0 monitor radio spectrum frequencies to provide military personnel with early warnings of incoming uncrewed aerial vehicles. Modern electronic warfare relies on adjusting operating frequencies to maintain detection capabilities against changing drone threat profiles.

BlueBird Tech is a Ukrainian defense technology developer that manufactures field equipment for uncrewed systems. The company previously introduced the Clover 5.8 GHz antenna designed for first-person view (FPV) drones, which are remote-piloted aircraft used for reconnaissance and strike missions.

In addition to drone detection and antenna systems, BlueBird Tech launched production of Chipa net throwers, which feature an effective range of up to 25 metres for capturing small aerial targets.
