Boca Juniors Draw With Sao Paulo, Reach Sudamericana Semis

Boca Juniors drew 1-1 away against Sao Paulo on Tuesday and advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 Copa Sudamericana, where it will face fellow Brazilian club Vasco da Gama.

Uruguayan right back Leandro Lozano put the Argentine side ahead in the 60th minute at the Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, before Domingos Duarte equalized for the home side in the 89th minute.

The draw was enough for Boca Juniors to progress, sealing a 2-1 aggregate win after the Argentine club had won the first leg 1-0 the previous week at its home stadium, La Bombonera, in Buenos Aires.

Boca Juniors and Sao Paulo's history

Boca Juniors is one of Argentina's most successful and popular football clubs, based in the La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The club has won multiple Copa Libertadores titles and shares one of world football's fiercest rivalries with River Plate.

What the Copa Sudamericana is

The Copa Sudamericana is South America's second-tier continental club competition, organized by CONMEBOL, the sport's governing body on the continent. It ranks below the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club tournament, and is contested annually by clubs from across the region.

Boca Juniors' semifinal opponent, Vasco da Gama, is a traditional Brazilian club based in Rio de Janeiro and one of the country's most popular teams.

Television and streaming coverage

The match was broadcast on ESPN and streamed on Disney+ Premium. In Argentina, viewers could also follow the game on DIRECTV Sports and DGO, the same services used to broadcast the match in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Chile and Venezuela. In the United States, the match was shown on beIN Sports, fuboTV and beIN Sports Connect.
