A 34-year-old Chelyabinsk resident has been sent to trial over the murder of his partner's ex-husband using a pistol hidden in an office wall.
Regional officers from the Investigative Committee of Russia confirmed that detectives solved the case after locating the hidden weapon. Prosecutors stated that the suspect conspired with two acquaintances to execute the targeted killing for financial gain.
Law enforcement authorities detained three men, aged 33 and 52, following an extensive homicide investigation. According to investigators, the victim was a 47-year-old resident of Chelyabinsk who was tracked for several months prior to the assault.
Planning and assault
The prosecution's case indicates that the plot was initiated in December 2025, when the 33-year-old organizer proposed the murder to two associates. The group subsequently acquired a firearm and conducted surveillance on the victim to monitor his movements.
On March 22, the accomplices ambushed the victim in a coordinated attack. The assailants sprayed gas from a canister directly into the victim's eyes, beat him, and then fired multiple gunshots on the direct order of the principal suspect.
Body discovery and investigation
The victim's body was discovered during March on the grounds of the Severny gardening non-profit partnership, situated within the Zlatoust urban district. Forensics specialists identified gunshot wounds as the cause of death.
Detectives reconstructed the events surrounding the homicide by reviewing closed circuit television footage, analyzing the victim's social circle, conducting property searches, and interviewing witnesses. Following the attack, the prime suspect concealed the murder weapon inside the wall of an office building.
