A Chinese hybrid liftback not officially sold in Russia has quietly become one of the country’s more sought-after imported cars. The Changan Qiyuan A06 has racked up 336 registrations in Russia as of July 27, with 175 of those arriving in just the last four weeks, according to Sergei Tselikov, head of the automotive analytics firm Autostat.
All units enter the country through parallel import channels and are registered directly to end buyers. Market participants put the price at roughly 2.2 million to 2.9 million rubles, making it one of the more affordable series hybrids available, according to those sources.
The A06 uses a 1.5-litre, 98-horsepower petrol engine solely as a generator to charge its battery, while a rear-mounted electric motor producing at least 163 horsepower drives the wheels. Depending on trim, the battery pack is either 28.4 or 51.5 kWh, giving an electric-only range of 130 to 240 kilometres.
Part of its appeal in Russia is regulatory: the model qualifies for a reduced recycling fee applied to certain series hybrids because its 30-minute motor output falls within the threshold set by Russian law. Changan’s Russian arm has not announced plans for an official launch.
