Dajabón will host Dajapón Fest 2026, a two-day celebration marking the 70th anniversary of Japanese settlement in the region, bringing together food, music, martial arts and traditional dance at the Parque de la Colonia Japonesa de La Vigía.
Representatives from Japanese colonies across the country, including Jarabacoa, Constanza, La Altagracia, Aguas Negras, Neiba, Duvergé and the fishing colony of Manzanillo, are expected to attend the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The programme includes Japanese food tastings, traditional dances, martial arts exhibitions, traditional games, artistic displays and a samurai armour exhibition. Guest artists from Japan will also perform, along with a presentation of the Bon Odori, a traditional celebration combining music and dance.
