The Narciso González Cultural Centre has concluded its “Narciso Kids Aventurero” summer camp with a closing showcase in which children performed for family members and centre collaborators.
The four-week programme brought together dozens of children for workshops in painting, physical expression, singing, dance and theatre, aimed at stimulating creativity in a safe, educational setting.
Centre director Madelen Díaz said the camp reaffirmed the value of art as a tool for children’s overall development, adding that seeing the joy and pride with which participants shared what they had learned confirmed they were on the right path.
During the closing event, the neighbourhood residents’ association presented Díaz with a recognition award on behalf of the centre for its contributions to cultural and community development in the area.
The centre, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and the Vice-Ministry of Creativity and Training, said it would continue promoting programmes that bring Dominican children closer to art and culture.
