Mexican composer Edgar Barrera led the nominations for the 27th annual Latin Grammy Awards on Wednesday after earning 10 nominations from the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.
Colombian singer Karol G, Spanish artist Rosalía, Argentine duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, and Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler tied for the second-most nominations, securing seven nominations each.
The Latin Academy announced that the awards ceremony will take place on November 12 in Las Vegas. This year's event features nominees competing across 60 distinct categories.
The Latin Grammy Awards are presented annually by the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to recognize excellence in Latin music worldwide. Established as a premier international music honors program, the ceremony celebrates recorded tracks and albums in Spanish and Portuguese from creators across the Americas and globally. Host city Las Vegas has long served as a major destination for entertainment and international award broadcasts, providing the backdrop for the November ceremony. Barrera, an influential songwriter and producer known for his work across regional Mexican and Latin pop music, enters the 2026 edition as the overall frontrunner.
Album and Record of the Year Categories
The headline Album of the Year category features 10 competing releases spanning various music genres. Rosalía earned a nomination for her project 'Lux (Complete Works)', while Karol G was nominated for 'Tropicoqueta'. Argentine duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso scored a nomination for 'FREE SPIRITS', and Jorge Drexler entered the field with 'Taracá'.
The remaining contenders for Album of the Year include Venezuelan group Rawayana for '¿Dónde es el After?', Chilean singer Mon Laferte for 'FEMME FATALE', and Mexican artist Carín León for 'MUDA'. The slate is completed by Argentine rapper Milo J for 'La Vida Era Más Corta', Brazilian singer Anitta for 'EQUILIBRIVM', and Mexican singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada for 'Vendrán Suaves Lluvias'.
In the Record of the Year category, which honors performing artists and production teams, Rosalía was nominated for 'La perla', while Karol G shared a nomination with Mexican singer Marco Antonio Solís for 'Coleccionando heridas'. Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso were recognized for 'Ha Ha', and Jorge Drexler earned a spot for '¿Cómo se ama?'.
Additional Record of the Year nominees include Silvana Estrada for 'Dime', Loulu Gilberto for 'O Amor Nos Encontrou', Mon Laferte for 'Femme Fatale', Carín León for 'Desde que te tengo', Milo J for 'Niño', and Elena Rose for 'Alma'.
Songwriting and New Artist Honors
The Song of the Year category, which specifically recognizes songwriters, nominated 'La perla' by Rosalía and 'Mi gran amor' by Becky G and legendary guitarist Carlos Santana. Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes and Vivir Quintana were nominated for 'Humano', Mon Laferte for 'Femme Fatale', and Karol G alongside Marco Antonio Solís for 'Coleccionando heridas'.
The field for Song of the Year also includes Jorge Drexler for '¿Cómo se ama?', Silvana Estrada for 'Dime', and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso featuring English musician Sting for 'Hasta Jesús tuvo un mal día'. Milo J earned a nomination for 'Solifican12', and Zanna rounded out the category with 'Nilo'.
Emerging performers received recognition in the Best New Artist category. The 11 acts nominated for the award are Delilah, FABIAN, Loulu Gilberto, Arath Herce, Macario Martínez, maye, Sofia Monroy, Kendall Peña, Dora Sanches, ARIA VEGA, and Zeca Veloso.
The Latin Academy also shortlisted five creators for Songwriter of the Year. Top nominee Edgar Barrera leads the category, competing alongside fellow songwriters Iván Gámez, Yoel Henriquez, Jenni Mosello, and Sara Schell.
Pop and Urban Music Nominations
In the Best Pop Contemporary Album category, Spanish singer Pablo Alborán earned a nomination for 'KM0', while Colombian group Monsieur Periné was nominated for 'Instrucciones para ser feliz'. The category also features nic for '(Enamorada)', Debi Nova for 'Todo puede convertirse en canción', and Spanish star Alejandro Sanz for '¿Y ahora qué +?'.
For Best Pop Song, nominations went to Kany García for 'A La Niña Que Fui', Joaquina for 'Amarillo', and nic for '(favorito)'. Rosalía and Yahritza y Su Esencia were recognized for 'La Perla', while Mon Laferte scored a nomination for 'Melancolía'.
Urban genres saw extensive representation across album and song divisions. Best Urban Music Album nominees are Spanish artist Bad Gyal for 'Más cara', Colombian stars J Balvin & Ryan Castro for 'Omerta', Beéle for 'Borondo (5020 Rcrds Sessions)', Karol G for 'Tropicoqueta', and Puerto Rican artist Young Miko for 'Do Not Disturb: Late Checkout'.
The Best Urban Song shortlist includes Rauw Alejandro for 'Buenos Términos', alongside Argentine producer Bizarrap and reggaeton pioneer Daddy Yankee for 'Daddy Yankee: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 0/66'. The category is rounded out by Omar Courtz for 'Por si mañana no estoy', MC Tuto for 'Reliquia Do 2T', and Ovy On The Drums, Quevedo, and Beele for 'Yo y Tú'.
Rock, Alternative, and Tropical Genres
Rock and alternative categories brought together iconic artists and new sounds. Nominees for Best Rock Album include Beta for 'A La Mitad', Spanish heavy metal band Mägo De Oz for 'Malicia', Argentine group 1915 for 'Ceremonia', rock veteran Fito Paez for 'Shine', and Venezuelan band Viniloversus for 'La Frontera'.
For Best Rock Song, contenders are Viniloversus for 'Destruirse', Mexican rock trio The Warning for 'Ego', Fito Paez for 'Las Fuerzas Armadas Del Amor', Draco Rosa for 'Montserrat', and Argentine artist Dillom for 'Rojo Profundo'.
The Best Alternative Music Album category features Argentine rock band Babasonicos for 'CUERPOS, Vol. 1', BRUSES for 'DESDE EL COMA', Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso for 'FREE SPIRITS', Rosalía for 'LUX (Complete Works)', and Teo Planell for 'Demian'.
In the Best Singer-Songwriter Album field, Brazilian icon Djavan was nominated for 'Improviso', alongside Jorge Drexler for 'Taracá', Silvana Estrada for 'Vendrán suaves lluvias', Arath Herce for 'Musas en mi', and Mon Laferte for 'FEMME FATALE'.
The Best Tropical Song category includes Danny Ocean for 'Crayola', Yeisy Rojas featuring Manolito Simonet & Ricardo Amaray for 'Latino', Luis Enrique and De La Ghetto for 'Nombre y Apellido', salsa group Grupo Niche for 'Relidad-Es', and Manerra for 'Todo llega'. The Latin Academy will announce all winners at the ceremony in Las Vegas on November 12.
