Eintracht Frankfurt Women reached the Champions League qualification mini-tournament final with an 8-0 victory over Cypriot team Omonia Nicosia on Wednesday.
The match at Frankfurt's home stadium was the team's first competitive game of the season. Eintracht established control early, taking the lead in the third minute when Hayley Raso headed in a cross from Hanna Bennison. Larissa Mühlhaus doubled the lead in the ninth minute following an assist by Paulina Krumbiegel.
Ereleta Memeti finished a team passing move with a header to make it 3-0 in the 34th minute. Mühlhaus scored her second goal in the 41st minute, and Memeti added her second goal in the 44th minute to give Frankfurt a 5-0 advantage at halftime.
Second half goals and tournament final
Frankfurt continued to create scoring opportunities in the second half. Captain Laura Freigang scored the sixth goal in the 69th minute. Dilara Acikgöz added a seventh goal with a long-range strike in the 90th minute, and Krumbiegel scored the final goal two minutes into stoppage time. Belarus referee Blotskaya officiated the match.
Eintracht Frankfurt will play Swedish side Malmö FF in the mini-tournament final on Saturday at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to another playoff round for a place in the Champions League group stage.
