Eintracht Frankfurt U21 surrendered a late lead to lose 2-1 against SGV Freiberg in the Regionalliga Sudwest on Saturday after conceding two late penalties.
The Frankfurt youth side had looked set for victory after Keito Kumashiro gave the visitors an early lead in the third minute. The Hessen team held their 1-0 advantage at half-time and maintained it deep into the second half.
However, SGV Freiberg turned the match around in the closing minutes. Lee equalised for the hosts from a handball penalty in the 83rd minute, before Kudala scored a foul penalty in the 90th minute to complete a 2-1 win in front of 6,070 spectators.
The defeat left Frankfurt empty-handed despite their early dominance, with Kumashiro unable to prevent his side from losing after his opening goal.
Steinbach Haiger victory in Hesse derby
In Saturday's other regional fixture, KSV Hessen Kassel suffered a 2-1 defeat away to TSV Steinbach Haiger in a Hesse derby, despite also taking an early lead.
All three goals in the match were scored by Steinbach Haiger players. Donner accidentally put North Hesse side Hessen Kassel ahead with an own goal in the 12th minute.
Steinbach Haiger responded before half-time through Kauper, who scored the equaliser in the 28th minute to make it 1-1. Bindemann then scored the winning goal in the 70th minute to complete the comeback victory before a crowd of 1,029 spectators in Haiger.
Regionalliga Sudwest standings
The victory lifts TSV Steinbach Haiger provisionally to sixth place in the table. Eintracht Frankfurt U21 occupy eleventh place following their loss, while Hessen Kassel sit in twelfth place, although the North Hesse side have played one game fewer.
Offenbacher Kickers remain top of the table. The league leaders maintained their flawless start to the season on Friday by securing their fourth victory in four matches.
The Regionalliga Sudwest is the fourth tier of German football, featuring regional teams alongside reserve sides from professional Bundesliga clubs across southwestern Germany.
