FIFA shifts 2030 World Cup final from Madrid to Morocco

The International Federation of Association Football, known as FIFA, has planned to host the 2030 World Cup final in Morocco instead of Spain's capital Madrid, according to a report by The Times.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino promised the Royal Moroccan Football Federation that the country would host the 2030 final in exchange for support in the upcoming presidential election in March 2027. On Wednesday, Infantino gathered key staff members for a meeting in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, seeking to convince national associations to issue statements supporting his candidacy.

Objections and Migration Crisis

Calls were previously made in Spain against holding 2030 World Cup matches in Morocco following a migrant crisis in Ceuta. At the end of July, the Spanish autonomous city located on the Mediterranean coast of North Africa experienced a mass influx of illegal migrants from Morocco.

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska reported that 72,000 illegal migrants had entered the country, though 70,000 of them have since returned to their homeland.
