Fiorentina has officially confirmed the loan signing of Real Madrid attacking player Franco Mastantuono until the end of the upcoming season. The Italian club announced the move on social media, with the agreement containing no option or rights to permanently buy the player.

According to newspaper AS, both clubs will cover half of Mastantuono's annual salary of 3 million euros. Fabio Paratici influenced the choice of club due to his strong relations with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Loan terms and player role

Real Madrid signed the Argentine from River Plate a year ago for 65 million euros. After scoring just one goal in La Liga during a disappointing first season, Real Madrid allowed Mastantuono freedom to choose a team where he could play in the starting lineup.

According to portal realmadryt.pl, Mastantuono agreed to the move after discussions with Fiorentina coach Fabio Grosso. Grosso presented his vision and assured him of a key role in rebuilding the squad following a hard season in which Fiorentina struggled to secure Serie A survival.

The deal includes an option to extend the loan by a second year if Fiorentina qualifies for European competition, AS reported. Mastantuono remains under contract with Real Madrid through June 30, 2031.
