Greek rowers Gabriella Liolio and Paschalina Mouratidou won the silver medal in the lightweight double sculls at the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam on Thursday.
The duo completed the final course in a time of 7:12.05 after holding second place for most of the race. Liolio and Mouratidou launched a powerful sprint in the closing meters to challenge for victory before finishing just behind the gold medalists.
The result secured the first medal for the Greek national team at this year's World Rowing Championships. Liolio and Mouratidou entered the six-boat final as the youngest crew in the field.

Aylin Mariah Ibarra Maduena and Melissa Marques of Mexico won the gold medal with a winning time of 7:10.02. The Mexican pair held off the late charge from the Greek boat to take top spot on the podium.
Khadija Krimi and Selma Dhaouadi of Tunisia produced a dramatic final surge to take the bronze medal in 7:14.90. They overtook Peruvian sisters Alessia Palacios and Valeria Palacios, who had occupied third place for the majority of the race before finishing fourth in 7:19.13.

The silver medal continues a flawless season for the Greek lightweight double sculls crew, who have reached the podium in every regatta they have entered this year. Both Liolio and Mouratidou have accumulated four international medals each this season, including three together as a pair and one apiece in separate rowing events.
The pair previously claimed gold together in the lightweight double sculls at the European Under-23 Rowing Championships in September 2025. Mouratidou, who also competes under the name Lila Mouratidou, and Liolio have emerged as leading figures in Greek rowing's lightweight division.
