Large American cockroaches arriving from abroad have infested dachas across Russia, according to the Telegram channel Mash.
The insects, which grow to about five centimeters, are attracted to warm basements, cellars, greenhouses and damp sheds, Mash reported. The channel noted that this species of cockroach carries dirt and bacteria, and that particles from the insects and their waste can worsen asthma and trigger allergies.

How the roaches arrive
Pest control specialists said American cockroaches can enter Russia inside cargo shipments from abroad, and that they are harder to eliminate than red cockroaches, according to Mash.
In July, Andrei Matyukhin, chief infectious disease specialist at the Bud Zdorov clinic network, warned Russians about an unexpected danger posed by cockroaches living in apartments.
