Greece has opened candidate submissions for its entry in the 71st Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Burgas, Bulgaria, in May 2027.
Public broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) announced that the submission window opened on Tuesday, September 22, and will accept online proposals until Sunday, November 1, at 11:59 pm.
Following the appeal of last year's selection process, the country's representative will once again be chosen through ERT's multi-night national selection show, titled Sing for Greece.
The competition will feature two semi-finals and a national final. Up to 20 songs will compete across the two semi-final shows, with 12 entries advancing to the national final based entirely on a public vote.
National final voting and contest details
In the national final, the winning song and performer will be selected by combining the public vote with the decisions of expert judging panels.
This marks the second time in the history of national finals in Greece that ERT has staged the Sing for Greece selection format, following three competition nights held last year.
Broadcaster officials said the return of the multi-night televised event gives the Greek music scene an opportunity to present its songs while allowing television audiences a direct role in selecting the national representative.
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual international song competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union. The 71st edition of the contest in May 2027 will be hosted in Burgas, a coastal city located on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast.
Broadcasting context and international lineup
The announcement comes amid wider changes to the international lineup for upcoming contests. North Macedonia is preparing to return to Eurovision after a four-year absence, while Ireland announced it will refrain from participating for a second consecutive year.
Musicians and songwriters interested in representing Greece must submit their proposals electronically through the official ERT platform before the November 1 deadline.
