Host Iliana Papageorgiou revealed the 22 contestants who secured a place in the Greece's Next Top Model house during an episode broadcast on Tuesday.
The announcement followed the completion of two demanding challenges held at the Skaramangas shipyards, where candidates waited for the judging panel to decide who would advance to the next phase of the reality fashion show.
Greece's Next Top Model, commonly abbreviated as GNTM, is a Greek reality television series adapted from the international Top Model franchise. Papageorgiou, a prominent Greek fashion model and television presenter, leads the panel of judges who evaluate contestants through a series of photo shoots and runway tests. Skaramangas is an industrial coastal area located west of Athens, widely recognized for hosting major ship repair and shipbuilding yards.
Before revealing the final choices, Papageorgiou praised all the candidates, offering congratulations for their presence and effort throughout the demanding trials. She then announced the successful contestants step by step, calling candidates forward in small groups of two, three, or four people to maintain tension until the end of the reveal.
Surprises and tension among contestants
The selections made by the judges delivered several unexpected outcomes. Candidates who were not considered favorites managed to earn spots in the final group of 22, while other contestants who had appeared certain of securing a place in the house were eliminated from the competition.
The choices prompted immediate friction among the participants, with conflict emerging primarily among the female contestants. The qualification of candidates Anthi and Stavroula triggered significant discussion, as several fellow contestants openly voiced their disagreement with the panel's decision.
Opposing contestants voiced sharp criticism during the broadcast, arguing that some of those chosen lacked the facial features, body type, or personality expected of a professional model. One participant questioned how judges could cut a contestant described as a real model to select a girl wearing pink, while another predicted that a group of three qualified contestants would all be eliminated in subsequent stages of the competition.
