Four Greek footballers completed transfers to major European clubs this summer, with the combined value of the deals reaching around 100 million euros.
Christos Tzolis, Konstantinos Karetsas, Konstantinos Tzolakis and Konstantinos Koulierakis all moved to top European leagues, a wave of transfers described as proof that the new generation of Greek football has earned a place at the highest level.
Tzolis sets a Greek transfer record
Tzolis joined Arsenal for 40 million euros, a fee that stands as a record for a Greek player moving abroad. The transfer followed a strong spell at Club Brugge in Belgium.
Karetsas signed for Borussia Dortmund, with the German club investing in his talent. Tzolakis left Olympiacos for Hull, in a deal reported to be worth 15 million euros.
Koulierakis also completed a move to a leading European league this summer, joining the other three players in the combined 100 million euro total, though no further details of his transfer were given.
