A prominent lawyer was detained by police in Athens after allegedly abusing his minor son during a live broadcast on TikTok. Officers from the Hellenic Police took the suspect into custody at the Alimos Police Department following reports from members of the public who watched the livestream on Tuesday afternoon, September 29.
The incident triggered an immediate response after citizens placed emergency calls to the Immediate Action command center. Authorities opened an ex-officio criminal case file under domestic violence laws and launched an urgent search for the suspect within the time limits of Greece's fast-track flagrant crime procedure.
Police response and home standoff
Law enforcement officers tracked the attorney to his residence in Voula, a coastal suburb located in southern Athens. Police forces arrived at the house early on Wednesday morning and repeatedly requested that the suspect open the front door, but he refused to comply, according to official reports.
A duty prosecutor was informed of the refusal and personally attended the scene at the suspect's residence. Following the arrival of the magistrate, officers successfully brought the lawyer into custody at approximately 6:30 a.m. and transferred him to the specialized Domestic Violence Handling Office at the Alimos police station.

Following his arrival at the station, the prosecutor issued an oral order to release the lawyer from physical detention, citing his professional status as a licensed attorney. Despite his release from the police station, official proceedings against the suspect remain fully active. Authorities confirmed that the legal case file charging him with violations of Articles 6 and 9 of the national domestic violence legislation remains in force, covering statutory offences relating to physical assault and verbal abuse against minors within the family home.
