Hessen Kassel beat Eintracht Frankfurt II 3-0 on Saturday in their opening match of the Regionalliga Südwest season. The visiting reserve side played most of the match with ten men after goalkeeper Amil Siljevic received a red card in the fifth minute for handling the ball outside the penalty area.
Veteran Sercan Sararer put Kassel ahead with a 30th-minute penalty after a foul. Nick Rothweiler doubled the lead in the 36th minute before Jan Dahlke added a third goal late in the match at the Kasseler Auestadion. René Klingbeil won his first match of the season as Kassel coach, while new Eintracht Frankfurt II manager Patrick Glöckner suffered a losing start in front of 3,255 spectators.
FSV Frankfurt draw against VfR Mannheim
FSV Frankfurt, who finished third as the top Hessian team last season, drew 2-2 against promoted VfR Mannheim after conceding a late equaliser. New head coach Victor Kleinhenz initially saw his side take control following a strong pre-season with six wins in six matches. New arrival Filip Pandza, who joined from Alzenau, scored twice in the 53rd and 59th minutes to give the host team a 2-0 lead.
Nolhan Assafoua pulled a goal back for Mannheim in the 61st minute. Robin Becker scored the equaliser deep in stoppage time in the 96th minute. A crowd of 1,490 spectators attended the match.
Kickers Offenbach victory over Walldorf
Kickers Offenbach secured a 2-1 home win against FC-Astoria Walldorf at the Bieberer Berg in front of 5,866 fans. Home supporters waited until late in the first half before new signing and striker Benedikt von Hagen scored the opening goal in the third minute of first-half stoppage time.
Iosif Maroudis equalised for Walldorf in the 63rd minute. New signing Maximilian Wolfram scored the winning goal for coach Mark Zimmermann's team in the 88th minute.
Steinbach Haiger draw and Fulda-Lehnerz win
TSV Steinbach Haiger drew 2-2 away at SV Sandhausen following a mixed pre-season. New arrival Till Hausotter put the Central Hessian side ahead in the 15th minute before Arianit Ferati equalised in the 20th minute. Jakob Pfahl restored Steinbach's lead in the 69th minute, but Stefan Maderer equalised for Sandhausen in the 95th minute. Sandhausen's Ferati received a yellow-red card in the 87th minute, while Steinbach's Käuber received a red card in the 90th minute before an audience of 2,190.
SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz started their campaign with a 1-0 away victory against former second-division club Eintracht Trier. Midfielder Roko Ivankovic scored the winning goal for the East Hessian team in the 53rd minute in front of 2,651 spectators.
