Municipal authorities also used the gathering to honour the broadcaster, issuing a formal council resolution that officially declared Muñoz a distinguished visitor to Cotuí.

The civic award was presented in person by Cotuí municipal leaders, headed by Mayor José Eugenio Montilla and Mario Melvin Peralta, the president of the local municipal council.

The municipal leadership stated that the honour recognised her professional career along with her ongoing contributions to democratic discourse and freedom of expression.

Journalism recognition in Sánchez Ramírez

The Dominican College of Journalists, known across the country by its Spanish initials CDP, is the primary statutory body representing media professionals in the Dominican Republic. Created to protect journalistic standards and press rights, the guild maintains active branches across the country to support regional reporters working outside Santo Domingo.

Cotuí, where the gala took place, is the provincial capital of Sánchez Ramírez, an agricultural and mining region situated in the northern central part of the Caribbean country. The municipal council, known as the Sala Capitular, functions as the city's local legislative assembly, responsible for enacting municipal resolutions and conferring civic honours on prominent visiting figures.

Muñoz is widely known across Dominican broadcasting through her central role on Gobierno de la Tarde, an established afternoon talk programme that features news reports, political analysis and panel discussions on national issues.

Regional press gatherings such as the Cotuí gala form an ongoing part of the calendar for provincial CDP chapters, which regularly host media assemblies to highlight professional standards and strengthen relationships between working journalists and local public officials.
