French defender Jeremy Petris has signed a four-year contract with Greek club Aris FC after completing a transfer from English side Watford.

The right back, whose full name is Jeremy Arnaud Petris, joins the Thessaloniki-based Super League Greece team on a permanent deal that ties him to the club until 2030.

Petris spent last season in England with Watford, making 18 appearances for the Championship club in domestic competition.

Player career and background

Born on January 28, 1998, in Bagnolet, France, Petris is of Martinique descent. He began his football development in the youth academies of French clubs AS Monaco and Paris FC.

He later gained senior experience in Italy, representing Crotone, Bisceglie, Gozzano, and Pro Vercelli before moving to Eastern Europe.

Petris made his breakthrough in Bulgarian football, initially joining Tsarsko Selo before securing a transfer to Levski Sofia. During his time with Levski Sofia, he established himself as one of the top full-backs in the league, recording 53 appearances and scoring one goal.

His performances in Bulgaria attracted interest from Belgian side Charleroi, who signed him in January 2024. Petris featured 56 times for Charleroi in the Jupiler Pro League, providing five assists, before moving to Watford.

Reactions and first statements

Speaking to the official Aris website, Petris said he was delighted to join the club and wear the Aris jersey. He noted that he was already familiar with the team and knew about the passionate atmosphere created by its supporters.

The defender expressed his ambition to help Aris achieve a successful season and bring happiness to the fans. He stated that he would give his maximum effort to make the club proud of him.

Petris added that he wanted to repay the trust shown in him by Aris management. He said he was looking forward to beginning training sessions and meeting his new coach and teammates.
