Konstantinos Karetsas is on the verge of formally becoming a Borussia Dortmund player, with only the official announcement left to confirm what will be the most expensive sale in Genk's history.
The 18-year-old Greek forward, who developed through Genk's youth academies, is already in Dortmund to complete the transfer. Before his first major career move, he posted an emotional video on his Instagram accounts thanking those who supported and trusted him in his early steps.
The video is built around the number 3600, Genk's postal code, which Karetsas chose symbolically to show his bond with the city.
Karetsas wrote that 3600 was a place where a dream became reality, and thanked Genk for everything, saying the city would always be in his heart. He went on to thank the club, its academies and all the coaches who believed in him and helped him reach the first team.
Karetsas said the decision to leave his "family" had been difficult. He concluded by saying Genk would always be his home and that he would remain forever one of the club's most loyal supporters.
