Ksenia Borodina Swears at Follower Over Name Misspelling

Russian television presenter and blogger Ksenia Borodina launched an angry, obscenity-laced response at a follower who misspelled her surname under a video filmed in New York.

Borodina, who is currently vacationing in the United States with her daughters, posted a video showcasing a 16-scoop ice cream sundae they ordered at The Plaza Hotel. She explained that ordering the extravagant dessert allowed her family to fulfill a dream of recreating a famous scene from the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

The television host told her followers that staff brought out 16 scoops of ice cream topped with whipped cream. She acknowledged that her family could not finish the massive order, noting that each person managed to eat two scoops at most, but added that they were extremely happy with the experience.

The conflict began when a follower commented on the video, suggesting that ordering the dessert was likely Borodina's dream rather than her children's, while misspelling her last name in Russian. Borodina reacted with a furious response, correcting the grammar of her surname before demanding to know why critics felt compelled to devalue every video she posted.

In her rant, the presenter complained that social media users constantly find fault with her, her husband, and her travel destinations. She told offended viewers to stop watching her content if it irritated them.

Clash over social media commentary

The follower responded by clarifying that they were not criticizing her earlier posts, explaining that trying the ice cream from the film was primarily a dream for millennials rather than Generation Z.

Borodina subsequently admitted that although the treat was her children's request, she was also delighted by the experience. She acknowledged that her outburst occurred because she felt fed up with constant public devaluation of her online posts.

Borodina is a prominent media personality in Russia who gained widespread fame as a long-running host of the reality television series Dom-2. She shared the vacation footage on Instagram, a social network owned by Meta Platforms, which has been designated an extremist organization and banned in Russia.

The scene referenced in Borodina's video features child actor Macaulay Culkin playing Kevin McCallister in the 1992 comedy film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, where the character stays at the luxury Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and orders a massive ice cream sundae to his room.

Prior to the argument over the video, Borodina commented on her experiences while visiting New York City. She expressed surprise at how she was treated in the American metropolis, noting that fans approached her on the streets of New York even more frequently than in Moscow.
