The Superior Court of Justice of Lambayeque ordered four months of pre-trial detention for L.M.A.P., 23, over an alleged aggravated robbery in Chiclayo.
Judge María Luzcelina Vásquez Vásquez, of the First Flagrancy Preparatory Investigation Court of Lambayeque, granted the request from the Public Prosecutor's Office following a hearing. The ruling ordered the suspect transferred to the Chiclayo Penitentiary Establishment, formerly known as Picsi, while investigations continue.
According to the prosecution investigation, victim C.C.G.B. arrived at Valdiviezo Street in the La Primavera neighborhood of Chiclayo to drop off her minor son for study reinforcement. While she waited for the door to open and made a phone call, a man got off a mototaxi and tried to snatch her mobile phone.
Street robbery and citizen pursuit
The victim resisted, triggering a struggle during which the suspect seized the cell phone, causing both the woman and her son to fall to the ground. The mototaxi fled the scene while the suspect ran toward a nearby business.
With the support of neighbors and passersby, the victim chased the suspect. She suffered physical aggression again while trying to stop him, but local citizens continued following the suspect until they subdued and restrained him for police intervention.
Officers transferred the suspect to the PNP Norte Police Station and later to the Flagrancy Unit, placing him at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The Lambayeque court stated the decision reflects its commitment to timely action on flagrant crimes, due process, victim protection, and public safety.
