Lazio are entering the new Serie A season facing a deepening fan revolt, with season-ticket renewals down more than 93 percent on last year’s figures.
The Rome club sold nearly 30,000 season tickets in 2025-26 but has recorded only 2,000 renewals so far, according to Italian media reports. Sky Sport estimated the boycott could cost Lazio around 20 million euros once reduced merchandise sales are factored in alongside lost ticket revenue.
Supporters are protesting against the running of the club under owner Claudio Lotito. Before the Coppa Italia final, fans published a statement saying the action was aimed at drawing attention to the club’s problems and shortcomings, not at turning supporters against Lazio.
The boycott covers home matches only. Corriere dello Sport reported that more than 2,000 Lazio fans are expected at a Sunday friendly against Ascoli, even though the away section at Ascoli’s stadium holds only 900 people, noting that supporters of the two clubs are on good terms.
Francesco Rocca, president of the Lazio region, said he believes the club is being treated more like an amateur side than one of the most important football teams in Italy.
Lazio finished ninth in Serie A last season and lost 2-0 to Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final, leaving them without European football. Gennaro Gattuso has taken over as head coach from Maurizio Sarri. The club opens against Mantova in the Coppa Italia on August 16 before facing Bologna in their Serie A opener on August 24.
